The Storm
As the night was in the depths of sleep
Dark and billowing clouds did creep
Over fragrant forest and misty moor
As the wind whipped and rent and tore.
The clouds advanced and the storm broke free
Burning rain fell upon field and tree.
The storm did with vengeful fury churn
And toppled trees began to burn.
With blinding blackness lightning flashed
While the wind howled and thunder crashed.
Bear and elk, wolf and deer all fled
Before the storm's unearthly tread.
Nature herself did weep and grieve,
But the storm of man offered no reprieve.
